What Is Air Duct?

Air ducts are a type of HVAC system that moves air to different parts of a home. They are made of flexible plastic over a metal wire coil, and are used to distribute treated air throughout the home. Not only are they used to move air, but they also trap pollen and pet dander, and they can also be a source of noise.

Why Routine HVAC Duct Cleaning Isn’t Needed

Flexible ducts have a number of advantages over rigid ductwork. For one, they can be installed in tight spaces. They are also cheaper to install. However, their flexibility can make them vulnerable to damage. They are susceptible to kinks, punctures, sags, and pests, which can affect their performance. When choosing a ductwork system, it’s important to consider your home’s design and your specific needs.

Flexible ducts are typically made of flexible plastic over a metal wire-coil core. Typically, they are used to connect supply air outlets to rigid ductwork. Unlike rigid ducts, flexible ducts are flexible and can be bent and shaped into a variety of shapes.

Flexible ducts are a popular choice for a variety of applications. They’re a great choice for difficult spaces and are made of inexpensive materials. Sheet metal ducts, for instance, can be used to run air through small rooms and attic spaces.

Flexible ducts can also be made of galvanized steel or aluminum. But when the ducting is not properly installed, it can introduce mold, dust, and other contaminants into the home. These ducts should be installed securely so that they don’t get knocked out by debris.

They can be a source of health problems

People living in homes that have air ducts that are dirty or moldy can experience various health problems. These include respiratory problems and allergies. Moreover, airborne contaminants may cause inflammation in the nasal passages, which may lead to sinus infections. For these reasons, it is important to clean air ducts regularly.

The air ducts of a house that is clogged with dust and pollens may be a source of allergy and asthma symptoms. The particles in the air can lead to sinus infections, which can be very painful and cause further health issues. Aside from this, the dirt and mold spores in the air ducts can aggravate an allergic reaction in a person.

People with asthma should avoid entering homes where the air ducts are clogged with dust or dirt. This will make the indoor air quality worse than the outdoor air. If your air ducts are dirty, this can even increase the risk of respiratory infections in healthy individuals. The dirty air ducts can also carry bacteria and fungi, which can cause respiratory infections. These spores can be dangerous for people with respiratory conditions, including infants and the elderly.

Things To Do In Reston, VA

Visit the Van Gogh Bridge: It’s no wonder why this landmark footbridge was named after the famous painter. In the springtime, a sea of cherry blossoms create a powder-pink canopy over it, making for a stunning scene. One of the most prominent (and photographed) spots in Reston, the Van Gogh Bridge—actually inspired by Van Gogh’s Arles paintings—is located along the Green Trail and conveniently links Lake Ann’s Washington Plaza to neighboring areas.

Walk the Lake Thoreau Loop Trail: In fact, Reston is full of green spaces, including Lake Thoreau and the two-mile trail that circles it. Perfect for fall leaf peeping, summer jogs, or birdwatching, the path is well-maintained and provides the perfect balance of shade and sun. Besides a few small hills, the path is fairly flat and fully paved. If you park at the South Lakes Village Center, you’ll wind up in a prime location for a post-walk coffee.

Get Wet at the Water Mine Family Swimmin’ Hole: One of the most popular attractions in Reston is the Water Mine Family Swimmin’ Hole water park, located just east of town near the Roer’s Zoofari in Lax Fairfax Park. The Water Mine features water slides, flumes, sprays, showers, and a lazy river, all open from Memorial Day weekend through the summer.

Meet Animals at Roer’s Zoofari: This 30-acre petting zoo is just across the way from the Water Mine. Roer’s Zoofari provides an up-close and personal experience with animals such as alligators, camels, reptiles, zebras, antelope, bison, and ostrich. Guests can bottle-feed lambs and piglets, hand-feed goats and llamas, or walk through the Budgiery Adventure Aviary to feed the birds. The petting zoo also offers carousel rides and wagon excursions.

Shop at Reston Town Center: There are more than 20 restaurants and a slew of shops—some globally known, others local—packed into Reston’s outdoor shopping mall. It even has an outdoor skating rink during the cold-weather season. But Reston Town Center is not only a shopping destination, it’s also a hub for community events like the Pet Fiesta in May and summer concerts from June through August. Oktoberfest and a Macy’s-style Thanksgiving Day parade (skyscraper-sized balloons and all) carry the annual calendar through the fall.

See One of Virginia’s Best Natural Landmarks: Nearby in McLean, Virginia, Great Falls Park is one of the most spectacular natural landmarks in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. The national park has incredible views, hiking trails, a variety of outdoor activities (did someone say rafting?), plus a visitor center with nature exhibits. Located along the Potomac River, which separates Virginia and Maryland, this 800-acre park features three overlook views of the falls including two wheelchair accessible spots.
